Master Land & Planning have secured prior approval for the conversion of an agricultural barn to a single dwelling under Class Q of the permitted development order.

New rules for Class Q conversions have now come into force limiting the size of new dwellings, however in this case, we were able to benefit from the transitional period to secure a dwelling of over 300sqm for our client.

As a provision that was not fully understood by the LPA, this transitional period applies up until June 2025, allowing applicants to apply for prior approval under either the old or new rules. Master Land & Planning successfully navigated this misunderstanding, and other concerns including ecology and the agricultural use to secure the approval within the 56 day statutory deadline.
