We’re delighted to confirm that reserved matters approval has been received for 25 new homes in Whiteparish, near Salisbury, Wiltshire.
The outline planning permission was approved in August 2024. Despite the site location outside of the settlement boundary, the benefits of the new homes outweighed conflict with the up-to-date development plan (at that time).
The site was acquired by Bargate in 2024. Their vision was to create an attractive settlement extension which complements the existing form and character of Whiteparish.
Preparation of the reserved matters commenced with pre-application engagement with Wiltshire Council and the local community.
The reserved matters scheme was brought forwards in conformity with the original parameter plan with a mixture of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes and open space and a play area.
The provision and enhancement of natural parkland and planting has been an essential part of the design to ensure there is a seamless blend with the surrounding fields and semi-rural appearance of the village.
The design proposal takes advantage of the distinct linear development pattern of Whiteparish, integrating with its surroundings by following clear building lines and linking existing footpaths to improve walkability.
This continuation of development creates an effective gateway to Whiteparish.
The Council supported the detailed design elements, including active frontages, the relationship with adjacent developments and neighbouring properties, the retention of boundary vegetation, the proposed material palette, and the overall streetscape. The external materials were considered appropriate to the local context and were judged to make a positive contribution to the visual appearance and character of the development.
